first sting (since childhood)

First big honey harvest today - a full 10 frames, for about 12l of honey. Another first was getting stung. It was pretty unlucky of me because it happened when decapping the frames. I was grabbing a handful of scrapped off honeycomb/honey mash when my finger must have landed on the prickly bum of a bee that was probably stuck in the sticky mess. Right moment, right angle, the bee stars aligned.

It didn't sting so much, to my surprise. Only after I washed my hands did I feel a slight throbbing. It seemed that covering the area with honey had a pretty good soothing effect - good to know for next time.

We split another native hive too, and next week we will split another. Perhaps in two weeks time, I can take one home!
