Here are a few cabbage white butterfly caterpillars that I found and left out on the grass as a gift to some lucky Willie Wagtails. A better preventative measure would be to plant dill, sage, or coriander nearby, or put up some white butterfly shapes that are effectively a scarecrow for butterflies.

Fun fact. These caterpillars leave little poo-drops on leaves, and cling on to the leaf using a spider web-like mesh.
