big bark, bigger bite, sore muscles
Setting up a productive edible garden is hard work. There's the mandatory watering tour, then all the maintenance, pest control, checking on seedlings, cleaning and tidying up the mess... There's also a lot of planning to do -- what goes where now, what goes where in the next rotation, when to sow, when to plant, what to plant with what, when to harvest, what's wrong, what's that... It's so easy to get distracted (and overwhelmed) just wandering through the yard. And plus, the days are only just starting to get hotter.
This actually comes to a surprise to me, since I've read up on a few suburban garden farms where they produce enough to be almost completely self-sufficient - and only spend a few hours on the weekend to keep everything in check. I suppose once things start rolling and there's a sort of system in place, taking care of the garden because an easier task.

This week, I'm going to try to set up a more structured system for taking care of the garden. I'll set up a planting and rotation plan, as well as a weekly/biweekly tasks schedule. I need to get around to tidying up the space properly too - there's so many random objects are scattered all over the place that it's starting to look like an I Spy picture puzzle.
*edit* And I should have a planting and growing schedule to see understand the growth patterns of various veggies.
