stink stank stunk, but now there'll be pumpkins

I was hesitant to write about having emptied the third compost bin that was becoming anaerobic because I'm not sure I want to remember those few days when the front yard smelled really bad. We're lucky none of the neighbours complained. When the front door or garage was open, even the most gentle breeze would bring in some putrid whiffs. It was bad.

It's okay to talk about this now, though, because the smells have finally gone away - it's been covered with layers of mulch and wood chips. What's more, I've planted a few pumpkin seedlings there. I'm not going to say I won't be expecting a little (or big) surprise later down the track.
